A special trip for couples and families who want comfort all the way. You spend three nights in an overwater villa in the Maldives, then fly to Sri Lanka for five nights in fine hotels.
In Sri Lanka you float over Sigiriya in a hot-air balloon at dawn, see Dambulla and Kandy, stay in a colonial tea planter's bungalow and ride the famous hill-country train.
Day-by-Day Itinerary
- Fly via Colombo to Malé and take the speedboat to your resort
- Check in to your overwater villa
- Snorkel, swim from your deck or relax at the spa
- A sandbank picnic at low tide and a sunset cruise to look for dolphins, or simply another free day
- Morning flight to Colombo
- Drive to a luxury hotel by a lake near Sigiriya
- Hot-air balloon flight at dawn (weather and season permitting), then climb Sigiriya Rock
- Afternoon at the hotel spa
- Visit the Dambulla cave temples, then drive to Kandy for the Temple of the Tooth
- See the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens, then drive into the hills to a colonial tea planter's bungalow
- A private tour of the tea estate, then ride the hill-country train in reserved seats
- Transfer to Negombo near the airport
