Thailand travel guide
Why Thailand is worth the trip
Thailand is one of the easiest first international trips from Nepal. Direct flights from Kathmandu to Bangkok take about 3.5 hours, hotels suit every budget, and Indian and Nepali food is easy to find. Bangkok is the usual starting point for temples, markets, malls and street food.
For beaches, Pattaya is a short drive from Bangkok, Phuket and Krabi are best for island trips on the Andaman Sea, and Koh Samui is quieter for honeymoons. Five days covers Bangkok and Pattaya; with a week you can add Phuket or Krabi.
Which Thailand package is right for you?

- City and islands: Bangkok & Phuket, 6 days, or Bangkok & Krabi, 6 days
- Classic week: Bangkok, Pattaya & Phuket, 7 or 8 days
- Island lovers: Bangkok, Phuket & Krabi, 8 days
- Honeymoon: Bangkok & Koh Samui Honeymoon, 7 days
- More countries: Thailand, Singapore & Malaysia, 10 days, or Thailand & Vietnam, 8 days
Before you fly
Nepali passport holders need a Thailand e-visa, and it is included in all our Thailand packages. Your passport must be valid for six months, and you should carry your return ticket and hotel booking. The local money is the baht; cards work in malls and hotels, but carry cash for markets and tuk-tuks.
Visiting temples
Cover your shoulders and knees, take off your shoes before entering a temple hall, and never point your feet at a Buddha image. At the Grand Palace the dress code is checked at the gate.
Best time to visit Thailand
November to February is the best time for most of Thailand: dry, sunny and a little cooler. March to May is very hot. June to October is the rainy season on the Andaman coast (Phuket, Krabi, Phi Phi), with rougher seas, while Koh Samui stays mostly dry until its own rains from October to December. Bangkok and Pattaya can be visited all year.
