Trip Overview
Two island nations in one week. You start with beach days and a reef trip on Maafushi in the Maldives, then fly to Colombo for Sri Lanka's cultural highlights.
In Sri Lanka you climb Sigiriya Rock early in the morning, see the painted caves of Dambulla and visit the Temple of the Tooth in Kandy. A car with a driver-guide takes you around.
Day-by-Day Itinerary
- Fly via Colombo to Malé
- Meet our representative and check in to a hotel in Hulhumalé, near the airport
- Speedboat to Maafushi island
- Afternoon on the beach
- Boat trip to snorkel on the reefs, stop on a sandbank and look for dolphins at dusk
- Speedboat back to Malé and fly to Colombo
- Your driver-guide takes you to the Sigiriya area (about 4 hours)
- Climb Sigiriya Rock at dawn, past the old wall paintings and the giant lion's paws
- Visit the Dambulla cave temples, then drive to Kandy for the evening ceremony at the Temple of the Tooth
- Walk in the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens, then drive to Negombo near the airport
- Evening on the beach
- Breakfast and transfer to Colombo airport
