Trip Overview
The best of northern Vietnam in five days, all within a few hours of Hanoi. You row through the river caves of Ninh Binh, known as 'Ha Long Bay on land', and spend a night on a cruise among the islands of Ha Long Bay.
There are no internal flights, so the trip is easy and good value.
Day-by-Day Itinerary
- Pickup at Noi Bai airport and transfer to your hotel
- Evening walk in the Old Quarter
- Drive to Ninh Binh (about 2 hours)
- Visit the temples of Hoa Lu, the old capital, then ride a small rowing boat along the river, through caves and between rice fields and limestone cliffs
- Back to Hanoi in the evening
- Drive to Ha Long Bay (about 2.5 hours on the expressway) and board your cruise
- Lunch is served as the boat sails between hundreds of limestone islands
- In the afternoon, visit a cave and paddle a kayak in a quiet lagoon
- Seafood dinner and the night on board
- Sunrise on deck and brunch on board
- Drive back to Hanoi and visit Hoan Kiem Lake and the Temple of Literature
- Breakfast and check-out
