Important
Japan visas are applied for at VFS Global in Kathmandu. Processing usually takes 6 working days, but can take 1 to 2 months if the embassy needs to review your file in detail. All documents must be originals, with clear A4 copies of ID cards and certificates; submitted documents are not returned, except your passport. Approval is the embassy's decision.
Tips
Apply as soon as your trip is fixed, but not more than 3 months before you travel, because the visa is valid for 3 months. March to April and September to November are the busiest months for VFS appointments, so apply early if you travel then.
